It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the record chasers, are what's still available for a team that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Finally, the result of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy getting a platform to produce her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it was a challenging time because I feel like I lacked timing completely," said Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive instincts take over and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the opening delivery and after that the batsman was on her way.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

Once she was removed Australia needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we are confident we can achieve it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this triumph succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a significant event.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she wished she had played through the pain.

But while she later admitted those fitness problems have postponed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a global event as captain.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
